Each product purchase will provide 5 meals to those who need it most.

Hi Malaysian!!!

In conjunction with World Food Day, Lazada and Unilever Malaysia are teaming up for Shop to Give on Super Brand Day happening this 17 October 2018. This partnership is a shared ambition to feed the underserved communities in need and raise public awareness on food security. Beginning at 12 am, for every Unilever product purchased on that day, 5 meals will be provided through The Lost Food Project, a non-profit organisation. Proceeds from Shop to Give will help provide supplies for volunteers to continue their work with The Lost Food Project throughout Malaysia and achieve the target of feeding 100,000 Malaysians.

Shop to Give on Super Brand Day

“This is the first time that Lazada is collaborating on a community outreach activity for Super Brand Day, and we are pleased to be working alongside Unilever and The Lost Food Project. Lazada is always looking for ways to empower the community through our platform. This initiative allows us to pair our reach to millions of Malaysians transacting daily to give back to the people that need it the most,” said Christophe Lejeune, Chief Executive Officer of Lazada Malaysia.

“Many of us may not realise but approximately one third of global food production, is lost or wasted annually[1]. As Malaysia progressively moves towards a zero-waste lifestyle[2], this lost or excess food is a viable solution to feeding the less fortunate; and we at Lazada are aligned with this view as we also strive to incorporate more sustainable practices in our offices, as well as in the way we approach our business,” Lejeune elaborated.

Shoppers can purchase any item from the Unilever Flagship Store on LazMall to participate. Beginning 14 October, consumers can start collecting stackable vouchers, and add items to their cart ahead of Super Brand Day. Enjoy even more perks when you Shop to Give with:

Unilever

“Created by Unilever, Shop to Give is a regional campaign designed to make a positive impact to the community we live in. The campaign will be activated across four countries in South East Asia on the same day with each country having its own purpose, also known as Selling with Purpose. In line with our Sustainable Living Plan, The Lost Food Project was identified as the NGO of choice as one of our key goals is to help more than a billion people to improve their health and wellbeing. Being able to feed the underserved communities in Malaysia and to know that they now have access to quality food enables us in building a brighter future for our community.”said Jay Go, Customer Development Director for Unilever Malaysia.
The Lost Food Project

The Lost Food Project is a volunteer-run food bank that rescues quality surplus food and produce that would otherwise end up in landfills and redistributes them to those in need. Surplus food is not waste; it is in date, edible food that is considered excess and therefore still fit for human consumption. It is the first food bank in Malaysia to have professional contracts with several supermarkets, manufacturers and a wholesale market, and has rescued hundreds of thousands of tons of surplus food each year. The rescued food is distributed to their charity partners, who use this food to provide nutritious meals for Malaysia’s most vulnerable people. They distribute 50,000 meals a month to over 40 charities, composting any donated food unfit for human consumption.
